Ashton Hills 2023 Gamay

Gamay is regarded as one of the lightest-bodied red grape varieties, famous for its expressive flavours and minimal tannin. When a small parcel from Woodside in the Adelaide Hills was offered to Ashton Hills, we couldn’t resist the opportunity.

Blackcurrant pastels and blood plum combine with boiled confectionery and a hint of green herb for a complex and enticing nose. Dark fruits and earthy beetroot notes envelope the palate with a hint of Christmas cake spice sitting in the background. Chalky tannins and a crisp fresh acid line bring the wine together and ensure a long expressive finish.
